Volunteer with Plymouth District Scouts
Our district team supports every Scout Group, Explorer Unit and young person in Plymouth. We’re looking for people to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout or to have time every week. You just need skills or enthusiasm you’re happy to share.
Express your interest Ask us a questionFlexible time
Most district roles are planned around your diary, whether that’s a few hours a month or helping at a specific event.
Use your skills
Finance, IT, admin, outdoor activities or organising people. Whatever you’re good at, there’s a place for it here.
Training and support
You’ll get a proper welcome, free Scouts learning, and a team behind you. Nobody is left to work it out alone.
Make a difference
District roles make sure hundreds of young people in Plymouth get the adventurous, safe programme they deserve.
Programme Team
Helps every section across the district deliver a safe, exciting, high-quality programme.
Adventurous Activities
Help groups get young people climbing, paddling, hiking and camping. You’ll champion adventurous activities, connect leaders with instructors and resources, and help make activities happen safely.

Coordinate the district’s activity permit scheme: arrange assessments, keep records up to date, and make sure leaders have the permits they need to run activities.
Enquire about this role →Top Awards
Support young people working towards the Chief Scout’s Awards, King’s Scout Award and other top awards. You’ll guide leaders, check progress and celebrate achievements.
Enquire about this role →International

14–24 Team Member

Properties Treasurer
Look after the finances of our district properties: budgets, income and spending, and reporting to the Board of Trustees. Ideal if you have a bookkeeping or finance background.
Enquire about this role →Digital Team
Help with our website, social media, email and digital tools. Good for anyone who enjoys tech, content creation or design, even if you can only spare a little time.

Data Lead
Help the district handle personal information properly and comply with UK GDPR. You’ll advise on policy and data incidents. Experience in data protection, IT or compliance would be a big help.
Enquire about this role →Trustees
Help steer the district charity by joining the Board for around four to six meetings a year. You’ll help make decisions on finance, safeguarding, properties and strategy.
